Experiencing a Product Like Users Do
At some point during development, I noticed something slightly funny about my own behavior: I kept opening the feature just to test it again, even when nothing significant had changed.
That’s when I realized it felt similar to getting a new phone. You already know what it does, but you still want to touch it, click through it, see how it feels. Not because you have to, but because you’re genuinely curious.
That curiosity changed the quality of my work. Testing stopped being a checklist and became exploration. I wasn’t just validating requirements; I was experiencing the product the same way users would.
Then another funny thing happened.
Once that motivation kicked in, it didn’t stay individual for long. Once you’re fully engaged, it spreads.
Very quickly, I noticed how the same energy showed up across our team. Frontend, backend, QA, design, mobile — everyone was aligned and equally invested. Conversations became more frequent, feedback loops got shorter, and there was a shared understanding of what we were optimizing for.
What surprised me wasn’t that we moved fast. It was that the speed actually gave energy instead of taking it. Decisions didn’t bounce back and forth because priorities were clear and shared.
When discussions ran late, it didn’t feel like overtime. It felt like momentum. People stayed because they wanted to close the loop, not because a deadline demanded it. Helping outside your role felt natural when the whole team cared about the outcome.
The way people showed up during those during that week was noticeably different:
- Multiple voluntary late huddles
- Extended syncs that happened naturally
- Continuous cross-team collaboration
- Help offered without being asked
None of this was enforced or scheduled in advance.
Not Being Rushed – Made Us Faster?
The fastest teams aren’t rushed. They’re aligned.

From initial idea to production, the feature shipped in roughly one weeks.
For a user-facing Web3 feature with real complexity, that’s not common. And it’s not something that should be expected every time.
What I learned from this experience:
- Motivation doesn’t need to be managed — it needs to be unlocked: The moment the team understood who was waiting and why it mattered, no one needed to be pushed. The context did the work that deadlines usually can’t.
- Alignment is faster than coordination: We didn’t move fast because we had a tight process. We moved fast because we shared the same understanding of what we were building and for whom. That eliminated most of the friction that slows teams down.
- The best testing happens when you’re genuinely curious: When you want to use the thing you’re building, quality stops being a checklist. You notice things users will notice because you are, for a moment, the user.
- Energy is contagious, but only if it’s real: You can’t manufacture the feeling of working on something that matters. But when it’s there, it spreads without being managed, scheduled, or asked for.
- Speed is a byproduct, not a goal: We didn’t ship in two weeks because we were in a hurry. We shipped in two weeks because every decision was easy to make. That’s the part worth replicating.
Looking back, what stands out most isn’t how fast we shipped or even what we shipped.
It’s how quickly the work changed once we realized the feature already had real momentum in the market. Motivation didn’t need to be discussed or managed. It showed up and helped us own and deliver a highly requested feature — in 7 days.
